Meet the Band

Tom Doughty: trumpet and vocals. For many years Tom was the leader of the Jubilee Jazz band in Bath. Currently he plays for a brass band and is a member of a brass ensemble. Tom writes most of the band arrangements and is a stickler for getting the tune right - no compromises for him.

Clive Johnstone: clarinet, saxophone and vocals. Clive is one of the finest reed players you could ever hope to hear. His interpretation of Lead me Saviours on the band's latest CD is a classic.

Alan "Oggy" Hogg: banjo, guitar and vocals. Alan joined Panama five years ago and brought with him his six-string banjo, guitar and a devilish sense of humour. His virtuosity on both instruments enables the band to adopt a wide range of musical styles and rhythms.
Keith Tolley: bass. Keith is as fine a bass player as any band could wish for and is the perfect partner for Alan. His playing drives the tunes along and yet his subtle touch is just what is needed to accompany a sentimental ballad. Keith is also a fine vocalist.

John Coad: drums. John provides a most subtle and sympathetic drum part. He plays with several other bands and lays down the solid beat of the Panama Jazz Band when he is with us.

The Panama can operate as a quartet, a five piece, or a full six piece jazz band. We can provide a trombone player when required.
